There are oftentimes those minutes at the end of a class when the clean-up is done and the students are ready to transition but there are still a few minutes left in class. I use this opportunity for mini-assessments or review. Consistent with the Inquiry method of teaching, I prompt with questions - though my intent goes beyond stimulating conversation. My intent is to provide a forum for students to share what they know. It is also a forum for sharing individual success stories or discussing challenges. Because of this, the questions I use are different types of questions. They are leading questions with specific information attached to them. I have listed below some prompts I use during line-assessment times.
