My philosophy of teaching and art making is a set of beliefs that I have thought about for years but have only recently compiled. Like everything else on this webpage, these are a work-in-progress and as I grow so, too, will this philosophy.

I believe in the creative voice within all people.
I believe honoring one's creative intelligence is central to one's happiness.
I believe the act of creating is a powerful one: it suspends time; it calms; it heals.
I believe the process of creating is an organic one and in each step there is a lesson.
I believe in trusting the process and in looking at challenges as learning opportunities, not failures.
I believe the place we create (studio, stage, office, court, etc) is a sanctuary & should be treated as such.
I believe the arts (visual art, music, dance, film, theater, writing, poetry) are the language of the soul.
I believe teaching is the most creative endeavor one can do.
I believe learning never ends & that our teachers are everywhere (my best teachers are my students).
I believe fiercely in my students and am their #1 advocate.
